Local elections decide who is on your local council, regional council, district health board, and other important organisations in your area. The people who are elected get to represent your community and make decisions that affect your daily life and the future of Taitokerau.
Northland local body elections for the Whangārei District Council, Kaipara District Council, Far North District Council and the Northland Regional Council are being held by postal vote, on Saturday 12 October 2019.
Tuesday 8 October is the last day to post your vote. If you have not posted your vote by this date, you will need to find a ballot box and hand deliver your voting papers to council before voting closes at midday, 12 October 2019. Find your nearest ballot box drop-off point here.
If you are not enrolled to vote or didn’t receive a voting pack you will need to enrol or update your enrolment details and make a special vote. To do so, contact the local electoral office on 0800 922 822 or visit your nearest district council service centre.
